Types of Bumper Damage We Repair

Not all bumper damage is the same. Our assessment determines the correct repair method for each type.

Paint transfer and shallow scratches from car park incidents, kerb strikes, or minor impacts. Repaired by wet sanding, polishing, and spot repainting where necessary.

From £802–3 hours

Deep Scratches

Scratches that have cut through the paint and primer to the plastic substrate. Require primer, colour coat, and lacquer application with careful blending into surrounding panels.

Bumper Repair FAQs

Can a cracked bumper be repaired or does it need replacing?

Most cracks, splits, and deep scuffs can be repaired rather than replaced, saving you significant cost. We assess the damage first — if the structural integrity of the bumper is compromised or the damage is too extensive, we will advise replacement. However, the majority of bumper damage we see is repairable.

How long does a bumper repair take?

A standard scuff or shallow crack repair typically takes 2–4 hours. More extensive damage requiring filler, reshaping, and a full respray may take a full day. We will give you an accurate time estimate when you bring the vehicle in for assessment.

Will the colour match perfectly?

We use computerised paint mixing matched to your vehicle's exact paint code (found on the VIN plate or door sill sticker). The repaired area is colour-matched, blended into adjacent panels where necessary, and lacquered to match the factory finish.

How much does a bumper repair cost?

Minor scuffs and scratches start from £80. Cracks and splits with reshaping and respray start from £150. Full bumper resprays start from £200. Final price depends on the extent of damage, paint complexity, and whether the bumper needs to be removed for repair.

Do I need to go through my insurance?

For minor bumper damage, paying directly is often more cost-effective than making an insurance claim, which may affect your no-claims bonus. We provide a written quote so you can make an informed decision. We can also work with insurance companies if you prefer to claim.

Can you repair a bumper that has been pushed in?

Yes. Plastic bumpers can often be reshaped using heat and specialist tools. We assess whether the bumper can be reformed or whether it requires filler and reshaping before repainting. Bumpers that have been pushed in significantly may also need clip and bracket inspection.
